Event Description

The internet is part of your life. Is it a mysterious thing that you can't possibly understand? Or is it just made of small pieces connected to each other, in ways that anyone can easily understand?

At the Internet in Action, facilitated by Dan Randow, you will learn about how the internet works by experiencing it for yourself. What happens when you click on a link? What are the parts that interact to put a page on a screen or send an email? We are going to make a life-sized working model of some of the workings of the internet.

You can try out being one of the parts, and interacting with the other parts. You will get to be a part of the life of the internet.

Anyone interested in how the Internet works is welcome to attend. No technical knowledge is necessary, but if you do have some, you will surely see some things in a new way. Everyone will learn something, get a little inspired, and have some fun.

Thursday 15 October, 5:30pm to 7:00pm Kowhai Room, NMIT, free. Numbers limited.
